Following the tradition of Theravada Buddhism, Insight Denver operates solely on dāna, which means generosity or gifts that are freely given. Generosity is a key practice in Buddhism, and was the first step on the Buddhist path that the Buddha taught to lay practitioners. This group freely offers teachings, practice opportunities, and community gatherings, and those who attend can offer time or monetary support, or both, as a reflection of their enrichment from such events. Dāna pays for our rent at First Baptist Church, supports all our events, and allows us to compensate teachers and develop new practice opportunities. There is never any obligation to give in order to attend our events, but we gratefully welcome all donations.
To give in person during our events, please deposit cash or checks made out to “Insight Denver” in the dāna basket on the back table. You can also click the yellow “Donate” button below for PayPal, which includes options for single or repeat donations, or use the QR code for Venmo. Insight Denver is a registered tax-exempt nonprofit and 501(c)(e) organization, and all donations are tax-deductible.
Another way to give, and a fun way to get to know people in our group, is to volunteer! We would greatly appreciate it if you became involved in the ongoing success and stability of our community. We have several groups that focus on facility management, tea/cookies/flowers, AV and tech support, website development, and administration of our non-profit. In 2025 we will also be looking for new members for our Board of Directors. Email insightdenverinfo@gmail.com and put “Volunteer” in the subject line for more info.
